July 9th. Interesting place

Again no photos. It just felt inappropriate to take photos. We did a walkabout around where we are staying. It's definitely central city Johannesburg. Not a friendly city by any means. We were the only whites walking around. We were in search of a cell phone plug in adapter. We saw so many odd and crazy things on the street. We did find a store for an adapter mission  accomplished. As we were walking we saw one vendor we think were pig heads drying then being deep friend and served. Then we went across the street and this guy was cutting off meat from something in a large plastic bag. What was disturbing is he cut off a hunk of meat handing it to another guy then he ran it to the restaurant across the street. At that moment we decided to go to the store shop and cook at home. Really don't want to get sick again. The food is so incredibly cheap here. It's very different. I probably made my worst meal ever. It's tough when you don't know what you are buying. Wilson was sweet and ate it. Thank goodness we had chocolate cake for desert. Looking to go the Nelson Mandela museum tomorrow with maybe lunch in Soweto first. Soweto is where in 1976 the largest school protest took place. 20,000 students protested the mandate to learn Afrikaan as the primary language. As I said earlier Afrikaan is the white mans language and wasn't looked fondly upon. They still do not know how many people really died in that protest. As of today Afrikaan is the primary language taught in school with English being second. This is a very poor country from our first glance. It's a different poor than Kenya. At least the Kenyans were basically happy able to live off the land literally. Where here in the city it's poor dirty and the people just seem angry. It's sad to me. You wonder why the Europeans felt the need to conquer this land and enslave the people with whom this was their home. It has left generations of social  destruction.
