July 18 Simon Town

Here in Simon Town noted for it's free running penguins. As we were arriving into town a beautiful rainbow greeted us followed by howling winds and rains. We are in winter altho trying to keep that in mind. Everything here is about seafood. Where the Indian ocean and the south Atlantic mix the  nutrients and plankton are plentiful allowing for a very healthy sea life. We wanted fish and chips but the fish was Hake. Wilson said I don't want to eat Hake. Come to find out that is Cod lolo. Before we found that out I ordered mussels in a garlic cream sauce. Yum!!  Wilson had a seafood mix in curry also yum. Mine in my opinion was better:). We get to our place just lovely. Not sure if you can tell by the ocean view photos just how windy and rainy it is now but trust me it feels like the windows will blow in. It's definitely a card playing wine drinking evening. The one photo of the roof isn't a butt photo it has a story. The owner walked us up to the unit he must have said 10 times lock all doors always and if you open the windows only open the windows with the bars on them. I thinking is crime that bad? He said it's all about the baboons the baboons are so smart and so aggressive they will come inside and take everything. In fact he said in the summer they kept getting in because he didn't place the bars up yet and they would steal the pillows and use them to sit on the roof pictured. He showed us the photos!!  This guy above him had so much damage from these baboons and the same baboon injured his dog so badly he had to put him down. This guy was so angry he got out his gun waited for this same baboon and shot and killed the baboon. The forensic tracked the guy down by his bullet and is now facing jail time. No one wants them here. The Gov is protecting them. The owner of this place said he knows of a great island they can dump them!!!  Going to fix dinner then take Wilson on for a few games of rummy. 🤞🙏 For better weather tomorrow!
